The Sharp Edge :: Board Games
Board Games
Board games have always been popular, and we have all your old favourites
plus lots of new ones for you to try. All you need is the board and some
chips, counters or 'men', and you have the makings of hours of cheap and
enjoyable entertainment. Playing games with other people is so much more
sociable than sitting watching TV, or playing a game by yourself on the
computer, as everyone can join in and have fun.
There are also many board
games, such as 'The Sudoku Board Game', that are good for stretching the
brain, and also suitable for just a couple of people to play. Lots of board
games can go on for hours, and you can even continue the same game the next
day if you have the energy! It's also a good idea to take your board games on holiday, and play on the journey too, and 'Deal or No Deal' would be
particulary good for this. In fact, there are dozens of board games to
choose from, all the way from 'Tiddly Winks' for kids, 'Backgammon' for
gamblers, and adult games like 'Charudes' for naughty people.
Some board games are quite sophisticated and a good choice for anyone
competitive, as they require skill, concentration and often good general
knowledge. At the other end of the scale there are many board games which
are simple and basic, and really just for fun. These can be great games to
play at Christmas when there's a crowd of people, and children will love
joining in too. In fact, it's never too early to start introducting
children to board games, as playing games together can be a great way to
learn new skills, as well as teaching them to share, have patience, and have
fun with other people. Several of the 'Cranium' games are popular with
older children too, as well as with adults.
Some board games, Chess for example, are very ancient games indeed. Even
our earliest ancestors were keen on board games, and some quite simple and
basic board games have been discovered in early settlements that even
pre-date our literacy skills, proving that, thoughout history, playing games
together has always been a great receipe for getting along together and
enjoying yourself. How suprised early man would have been to see the latest
developments in board game technology, with many games now making use of
CD's, video cassettes and DVD's to enhnace the fun and sophistication of the
game. Why not they the'DVD Film Edition Murder Mystery in Las Vegas' board
game for a great party night. Just add nibbles and a few bottles of bubbly,
and you're in for a great evening.
